The Four Agreements

1. Be Impeccable with your Word: Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the Word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your Word in the direction of truth and love.

2. Don’t Take Anything Personally
Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.

3. Don’t Make Assumptions
Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

4. Always Do Your Best
Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret.

REMEMBER

ONLY ONE PERSON CAN TALK AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT. IF I AM TALKING, THEN YOU ARE NOT. IF YOU WISH TO TALK, RAISE YOUR HAND, AND YOU WILL BE GIVEN TIME FREE FROM INTERUPTION.

RUDENESS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!!

TREAT OTHERS AS YOU WISH TO BE TREATED!!

CONSEQUENCES WILL BE SWIFT AND TERRIBLE.

YOU DON'T LIKE THESE AND NEITHER DO I, SO LET'S ALL WORK TOGETHER TO BE PRODUCTIVE, NOT DESTRUCTIVE!!

GRADING
Grades are assigned using a point system, each assignment being given a point value. Projects are worth 100 points, homework and class work are worth 10 points. Other assignments will be given point values at my discretion.
To get an A , you must earn at least 90% of the total points possible, to get a B , you must earn 80% of the total points possible, to get a C , you must earn 70% of the total points possible.
If you do every assignment, you will not receive lower than a C . Most students run into grade trouble by not completing all of the assigned work. ANY student that completes every assignment is guaranteed at least a C , but if you do all of the assignments and TRY, you will do much better.

I am available to help you. If you are struggling, come and talk to me about it.

Do not wait until the last week of the semester to try to fix your grade. It won't work.

ATTENDANCE

Attendance is MANDATORY! Your grade will be affected by poor attendance. If you miss 10% of the semester (9 days), your grade will be lowered one letter grade. If you miss 15% of the semester (14 days), your grade will be lowered by 2 letter grades. If you miss 20% of the semester (18days), you will fail, regardless of your work in the class.

Do not test this theory unless you are willing to waste an entire semster.

ENTERING THE CLASS

IF THE DOOR IS CLOSED

wait for me quietly

IF THE DOOR IS OPEN

go directly to your seat. Begin working immediately.

NO RUNNING IN CLASS AT ANY TIME.

DO NOT THROW TRASH INTO THE TRASHCANS, DROP IT INTO THE TRASHCANS.

NO FOOD OR DRINK ALLOWED IN THE CLASSROOM.

The potential for making a mess is too great, and trash is always left behind.
NO CELL PHONE USE IS PERMITTED IN THE CLASSROOM.

LEAVING CLASS

If you have need to leave the room for any reason, please wait until I am not talking to the class or helping another student to tell me about your problem. You may not leave the room to get a drink of water, but I see no reason why EMERGENCY bathroom visits should not be permitted. However, if you abuse the privilege, it will be revoked, so say it's emergency only if it is, otherwise, wait until after class.

TARDINESS

Tardiness is UNACCEPTABLE! You are tardy if you are not in your seat when the class begins. Don't stand around outside the door. Come in and get started!

CLEANUP

I will not dismiss the class until cleanup is complete. This includes ALL paper and trash off the floor and tables, computers logged out.

ALL seats are in their proper place, pushed in.
ALL books and materials are returned to their proper place.
ALL work is turned-in as requested.
 

DISMISSAL

DO NOT gather at the door before Class ends.

STAY IN YOUR SEAT.I will dismiss the class.

The clock does not dismiss you, your friends do not dismiss you, you do not dismiss yourself. ONLY I MAY DISMISS YOU.
