Good Morning! Feb 16, 2007Make a decision about what category you will build your website on. Type at least three paragraphs about what you chose and why. Be specific! Type it using Word. I expect it to be headed like an academic paper, i.e., name, date, class and period in the upper right corner. Paragraphs should be double-spaced. Grammar and spelling matter, so get them right! Turn this in to the server public folder by the end of class. Name the file category.yourinitials.per#.doc Feb 15, 2007 Go to the assignments page and click on Doors to Diplomacy. You are going to do REAL research in one of 8 categories, and then make an interactive website about it. Along the way, I will be showing you some tricks to make your site really interesting. This project is due on March 15, one month from today, but there will be small benchmarks along the way for you to turn in. Start reading the assignment, and thinking about what category you want to choose. I will be asking for your decision tomorrow. Feb 14, 2004 The Friends assignment is due today. Put it in a folder with a properly filled out grading rubric. Send it to me by the end of the period. Please understand that I always expect you to do your best work, but I know that my being gone has hampered the efforts of many of you, so send me what you have and we will move on. Feb 13, 2007 You need to record sound TODAY! I want this assignment turned in tomorrow. Feb 12, 2007 I'm back!! Let's take some time to figure out where everyone is before we move on. We'll set up a sound station, too. Feb 9, 2007 I will be back on Monday. Keep working. We will talk then. Have a nice weekend. Feb 7, 2007 Keep working. We haven't talked about sound yet. We will on Monday. Feb 7, 2007 I heard from a few of you yesterday. I was glad to know you were still alive! If you don't have your photos taken by now, you need to get them immediately. Keep working, send questions. I understand that some of you are unhappy with your grades. Very simply, you must turn in the work on time to the CORRECT drop box. If your grade is not what you thought it would be, I suggest you look in the drop box on the computer you are working on, or in the drop box in your server folder. You will probably find assignments that you thought you turned in. Moreover, there are many of you who play around in class--play games, look at interesting websites, do work for other classes. This is not going to work! When you are in this class, be about OUR business. Feb 6, 2007 Keep working. I was waiting by the computer for questions yesterday, and none came. That either means you know exactly what you are doing, or you are not working at all. Let's hope it's the former!! I'll be by the computer during class if you need me. Give me your cell number and I will call you. Feb 5, 2007 Continue working on the friends assignment. You are really on your own on this, but I will still expect to see FINISHED projects by FRIDAY!! If yours does not work like the example, you need to go back and make it so. Send me an email (through the help page) if you have questions. Make sure you give me a way to get hold of you (email, cell phone, etc.). I will be checking it during class. Feb 2, 2007 Sorry I couldn't be with you yesterday or today. I wanted to go over action scripting for your buttons, but won't be able to talk with you about it until Monday. Take a look at Dig Image 1's assignment for a review on scripting a button. Feb 1, 2007 Keep building your friends interface. We will talk a little about the scripting today. Jan 31, 2007 You should have a photo by today. Get started! this will take some time! Jan 30, 2007 Go to the assignments page and click on Friends. You will make a multi-scene flash based on a photograph that you take of your friends. This assignment is due next Tuesday. Jan 29, 2007 The digital narrative is due today. When you are finished with it, publish it (File>Publish). This will make a .swf file. Put the .swf file, along with a COMPLETED grading rubric in a folder named narrative.yourinitials.per# Send it to the drop box in the Public server by the end of the period. Please note, folders that are named incorrectly will be thrown out, and no credit will be given, so get it right! Jan 26, 2007 Everyone should be well on their way to finishing this. Let's plan on being done on Monday. Here is an additional page of instructions to help you along. Jan 25, 2007 We'll catch up today, and make sure everyone knows what they are supposed to be doing. Jan 24, 2007 Sorry, I'm out for one more day, but my back is getting better. Go to the assignments page and click on Building a Title Page. Follow the instructions, using the content that you have researched about your town or city. I know some of you are confused, but trust me, you can do this! Look at this example. It's not about a town, but it does use the narrative template. I'll be back tomorrow and answer all your questions. Jan 23, 2007 Sorry I could not be with you yesterday or today. I hurt my back and I am spending all my time at the chiropractor. I hope to join you tomorrow. For today, go to the assignments page and click on Building the Narrative Template. You should have downloaded and installed the template yesterday. Follow thw instructions. We will discuss this tomorrow (I hope!). Jan 22, 2007 On the assignments page, click on Digital Narrative Template. This will download the template you will be using for your narrative. Once it is on your desktop, double click and install it. Then go to the Get Stuff folder on the Public server and download Planning the Narrative. You are to write a script for your narrative. Plan on your narrative using at least 6 frames. Draw a storyboard, and plan out your story. This link might help you. I want to see your script and storyboards tomorrow. Jan 19, 2007 Go to the assignments page and click on Digital Narrative Introduction. Here is where you will begin to use the research that you did the first week of class. The assignment is at the bottom of the page, and it is due today, on paper, at the end of class. Jan 18, 2007 The guide layer is due today. Fill out a project rubric COMPLETELY and put it and your assignment into a folder called guidelayer.yourinitials.per# and send it to the dropbox in the publc server by the end of the period. Jan 17, 2007 Continue to work on the guide layer assignment. You will need to make a real button to move around the stage. Just follow the directions carefully and you will be fine. This is due tomorrow. Jan 16, 2007 Go to the assignments page and click on Guide layer. You will be making an element in your flash movie dance around the screen. This assignment is due on Thursday. Jan 12, 2007 The animated button is due today. The first thing I want you to do is go to the assignments page and click on NMA Project Rubric. Download and open it. Choose Save>As, and name the file animatedbutton.yourinitials.per#.xls and save it on your desktop. You will fill this out for every assignment, and we will go over how to do that today. When your button AND your rubric are finished, choose File>New Folder on your desktop. Name this folder animatedbutton.yourinials.per# Put your flash file and your excel file in the folder, and send it to the Public dropbox on MY server. I will show you how to do this. Then save the folder in YOUR server folder. Jan 11, 2007 I've seen many of your animated buttons, and they are looking pretty good! Take a look at the example posted on the assignments page. This is due tomorrow. Jan 10, 2007 Some of you have a bewidered look on your faces. Don't despair. This assignment is just to get you warmed up. In a couple weeks you'll be back in form!. Keep working. We'll talk about this tomorrow. It is due Friday. Jan 9, 2007 Go to the assignments page and click on Creating Animated Buttons. Download the file and make sure you save it in your server folder before the end of the per. Follow the instructions. This assignment is relatively easy and it will give you a chance to get used to Flash again. Name your file animatedbutton.yourinitials.per# This assignment is due on Friday. Jan 8, 2007 Look in the Dock (the bar containing application icons at the bottom of your screen) for the Flash Icon . Click it once to make Flash start up. Then, go to the assignments page and click on Flash Introduction. We are going to walk through the basic tools and pallettes before we start working with the application. Jan 5, 2007 Continue working on your research today. I will be walking around the room checking it and giving you a participation grade. Jan 4, 2007 Continue working on your research. I will be checking it tomorrow. Also, let me know if you are having any problems getting into your server folder. Jan 3, 2007 Today we will get acquaited with the computers and the server. Everyone will log into their server folder. Once we get done with that, go to the assignments page and click on Town Research. You are going to be making a website about a city or town somewhere in the world, and this will be the first step in gathering content. Answer the questions, and save your work as a word file in your server folder so you will be able to find it when the time comes. Jan 2, 2007 Welcome to the New Media Academy Digital Lab. This is the daily memo, and you will check it every day for information about what we will be doing. Today, we will get everyone seated at a computer, start assigning passwords, and copy down the class rules. |
